ClassinAction 2007 IMAGES AND COMMENTS ClassinAction 2008 IMAGES AND COMMENTS ClassinAction 2009 IMAGES AND COMMENTS Introduction The International Youth Theatre Challenge ClassinAction is a unique opportunity for students and young people to meet, compete, and share inspiration with similar-minded colleagues from many different countries of the world. ClassinAction is intended for students of English from all types of schools and drama groups, in short anybody with any level of theatre experience aged 12-26 years of age. ClassinAction is three action-packed days of plays, workshops, trips, events and fun in the most beautiful city in Europe prepared for young theatre enthusiasts and English speakers. ClassinAction is primarily conceived to promote international understanding within the younger generation. It provides an exciting and superb forum where people from different cultures can find inspiration and learn from each other. It promotes the use of English as a tool for international communication and it also encourages native English speakers to communicate effectively with non-native speakers. ClassinAction also supports creativity and originality in young people. Date and venueThe venue is Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, the dates of ClassinAction are 25th - 28nd November 2010 (Thursday-Sunday) Festival concept and participationThe core idea of the event is to produce a short piece of theatre on one of the given themes. The style and content of the performance is up to you, but you have to manage the time well to tell a strong story in a way that speaks loudly and clearly to people of different nations. Participants can join the competition or the non-competitive stream. The competitionA small theatre/theatres in the heart of Prague will host up to 10 student groups for the competition. These groups will each get a total of 30 minutes stage time to set up, present, and clear away a piece of theatre that will have a maximum playing time of 15 minutes. There will be a speciál independent jury which will rank the competing groups and give feedback to groups in the non-competitive stream. (The other technical parameters for these performances will be provided in the information pack that groups receive upon registration.) The Non-Competitive StreamThe non-competitive stream is here to encourage all groups with less experience of creating theatre to still come and be a part of this great experience. The performances in this stream have the same restrictions and aims as the competitive performances (above), but without the pressure of competition. The groups will simply show their work to each other, receive feedback from an expert panel and maybe gain the confidence and experience to try competing the next time around. Festival organizerThe festival is organised by IfB Bohemia Prague in close co-operation with The Bear Theatre Company. This strong connection is a guarantee of ClassinAction´s high professional level. (more information on www.ifbbohemia.cz, www.bearproject.cz) Festival programme overview
