DANCE2006PRAGUE
INTERNATIONAL FOLKLORE DANCE FESTIVAL
The festival took place simultaneously in Prague and Podebrady last weekend in August. Organisers wish to thank once again
all the participating ensembles for joining the festival. Fantastic atmosphere, great parade, spectacular
performances. The viewers in both Prague and Podebrady enjoyed it enormously. Fantastic gala evening!
We encourage all the participants to come back with opinions and comments of whatever nature. We
promise to consider them all and we seek your permission to publish it on our website.
Enjoy the photographs!
This is what you said about our (and your!!!) festival:

Mr. Thore Bäckman, Eksjö Folkdanslag, Sweden |
0100 night between Sunday and Monday were we back in Eksjö along with our plan and without incidents.
18 hrs in the bus was easy to take when we thought back on the lovely time we spent in your beautiful capital.
Luisa, our excellent guide, contributed very much to the success. She was really helpful not to speak of her
impressing knowledge of Swedish. She was also the best possible person to guide us through the interesting
history of Prague. Once again, thank you very much for all your efforts during the preparations
and the time we spent in Prague. Our conclusion is: 100% success! All the best to you, your family
and to the festival organizers. On behalf of all participants from Eksjö Folkdanslag Thore Bäckman

Ms. Bobbie Evans, Dawnswyr Tipyn o Bopeth, Cymru, Wales |
On behalf of "Dawnswyr Tipyn o Bopeth" I wish to thank you and all your committee for providing such
an enjoyable and well organised festival for so many dancers and musicians to enjoy. Our group has
looked forward to returning to Prague this year, and once again everyone has arrived back in Wales
having had a marvellous time in your country. The visit to the Spa Town of Podebrady was an added bonus
this year. It was so nice to be able to see a little more of your country and the lovely architecture.
It is too long a journey from Wales for our coach driver to take us to visit small towns and villages
on the way, so it was lovely to have this opportunity to dance in a smaller town, as well as in Prague.
We found the local people who were watching the concert in the park very friendly, and I think we have
made a friendship with a gentleman who, as a collector, wishes to exchange postcards with us.
We have enjoyed seeing so many varieties of dance ensembles this year, the Swiss "Cow Bells" and
"Alpine Horns" were fantastic, and we have also made new friends with members of the groups from Australia,
Sweden and Finland. So we thank you for bringing so many of us together, from all over the world,
and giving us the opportunity to exchange our different cultures. Will you please thank our guide
Vladimír (Bisek) for us, he was so courteous, kind and interesting, and helped make this visit really enjoyable.
Thank you all once again - these events do not happen without much hard work and effort.

Mr Stijn Dewolf, Die Boose, Izegem, Belgium |
I'm Stijn Dewolf and I'm a dancer of Die Boose - Izegem (Belgium). Last year I came to Prague
with Canteclaer - Zwevegem and enjoyed a great time over there. (I still want to thank our excellent guide
Luisa for contributing to that... and apparently the Swedish people were as satisfied as I was last year about her.)
This year I was so lucky to be able to come back with the other group I dance in... Off course I took
this opportunity with both hands. The festival was -again- very well organised. (Also a thank you to this
year's guide Dagmar! Ahoj!) It was nice to have some more performances this year. Just enough for not being
too occupied. The parades work good as well: not too long (and heavy), but nice. The crowd was also very
enthousiastic (which can cause a bit danger when waving the flags: people can get hurt when they don't move away...
luckily I managed to stop in time when necessary). But all this better then a silent crowd, or just no crowd at all!
It's great how you bring so many dancers and cultures together. A key moment of this 'meeting' is of course
the Gala dinner.
About that dinner, I have only one slight remark: The atmosphere was superb again: The hall is astonishing,
the food is nice, the live band is really great... The only thing I hoped to improve this year was the end
of the gala dinner. Everybody is on the dancefloor, having the time of his life, when suddenly the band
is leaving... Off course they can't play all night, they're only human and they performed a huge repertoire
already. But -please- extend the party a bit with some more music. (Use cd's?) It's just sad having to leave
the party when you're enjoying yourself so much.
Don't see this as a complaint... My only matter is I'm having a hard time to say farewell to the atmosphere
and to all the other groups so quickly, so 'early'.
Besides that, nothing should change, because the atmosphere itself is just great, during the whole festival!
So thank you for making all this possible again. And it will probably not be next year, but I hope to
come back again soon!
